Multi-family Residential / Apartments
Kasese District, Western Uganda
Nerea Amoros Elorduy - Lead architect
The two apartments on a block in Kasese, Western Uganda are designed to host guests that visit the coffee plantations of the area. Designed as a business comfort stop the ground floor apartment with a small garden is designed to host one family, while the upper apartment with sweeping views of the mountain range is designed to host a group of work individuals.
Each apartment has a kitchen, dinning and living, outdoor area, three rooms and two full bathrooms. The construction is done with cement blocks manufactured on site. It uses a very simple rectangular footprint that adapts to the site and uses the shape and location of the terraces and windows to allow for small heat gains and enhance cross ventilation, much needed in the hot Kasese.
